Analog Man | Sun Face Fuzz

Analog Man Sun Face pedals cover all of the Fuzz Face versions plus more, handmade to your specs with more options than any other fuzz pedal.

We are now making these in our own cases, as the Analog Man Sun Face . They are hand-built in the USA in small gold boxes, with our own USA made SUNFACE circuit board, which was made small enough to fit in almost any enclosure. As you can see in the picture down below a bit, this is a VERY high quality board of the same type used on our other pedals. It is better quality than almost any other Fuzz Face clone you will find, with shielding, plated through-holes, etc to meet military specs. It also has an internal CLEAN trim pot (white knob).

This trim pot acts like turning down the VOLUME knob on your guitar, to clean up the fuzz. It can be used to preset the sound as with the volume knob rolled back a bit. It also allows easier control of the volume knob on your guitar when the white CLEAN trim pot is turned a bit. It can also be used to kill Radio Frequency Interference, which may be a problem on high gain pedals in some areas, by turning it down a hair. The CLEAN trimpot will also allow the Sun Face to work better after a vintage style wah pedal, without having to use a Foxrox wah retrofit. It does not reduce the amount of fuzz that much, with humbuckers it can actually seem to have MORE fuzz by turning it a bit. like all our handmade pedals, the Sun Face has true bypass, so when off they do not alter your sound at all.

2012 Sun Face : in 2012 we started using a brighter, shinier gold box for the smaller Sun Face pedals, as seen on the pedal on the right. I like the gold color better. The ZVEX power plate will fit these cases well too.

This Sun Face has many transistor options, there is no BEST, they are all very similar but have some differences that could make some better than others for your needs.

RCA germanium transistors : We got these in mid 2018 and the specs and sound are excellent. These are fairly low gain in general, but we have low, medium, and high available. Similar to standard germanium, a bit brighter with more cut than the old white dot NKT275. Quite a bit brighter than the red dot NKT, and also have excellent cleanup. The LOW GAIN RCA really cleans up well, and is not as bright, but still had a good amount of fuzz when you hit it hard. These are probably the best germanium choice for playing in different temperatures, as they are very stable and sound good even when warm.

2SB Japanese transistors : usually Toshiba brand, about 30 years old. Medium gain, not too finicky, nice warm tone, not very bright. Good cleanup. We have these in 2SB171 which is lower gain (better cleanup) and 2SB175 which is higher gain.

2N USA transistors : black or silver larger metal cans, similar to the 2SB transistors but maybe a little brighter and a bit more edge to cut through better. Usually made by General Electric (GE). Also used in the Low Gain Germanium option.
